Upload products from a CSV
Add many items, digital products or services at once from a spreadsheet.
In Salescom: Catalog > Bulk upload
- Open Catalog and press Bulk upload.
- Choose what's in the file: Items, Digital products or Services. Each file holds one type. Upload catalogs stays off until you choose.
- Press Download template. Each template has only the columns that type needs, with example rows.
- Fill in one product per row and delete the example rows. Name, price and currency are required. A service with price type
askcan leave the price empty. - Press Upload catalogs, choose your file, then Check my file.
- Read the list. A row with a wrong value (an empty price, a currency that isn't a 3-letter code, a photo link that doesn't work, a detail over 500 characters) is marked in amber but still added. The wrong value is left out and the product shows a Needs fixing badge in your catalog, with the reason, until you save it from the product form. A product with no usable price, currency or stock stays hidden from your assistant until then. Only template example rows and rows that say a different product type are left out. When it looks right, press Add products.
Nothing is added until you press Add products. To change something, fix your file and upload it again.
Use an AI assistant
Products in a PDF, a photo or your notes? Press Copy AI prompt, paste it into ChatGPT or any AI assistant together with your own product or service details, and upload the file it gives you.
The AI only rearranges what you give it. The prompt tells it not to make anything up, but always read the check list before you add: if a template example row is still in the file, it's marked and left out, and Salescom never fills in a missing price or link.
Columns
Every column except name, price and currency is optional, so you can delete the ones you don't use. A few that need a word:
- stock (items only): a whole number. Leave it empty for something that never runs out.
- price_type (services):
exact, fromfor a starting price, oraskwhen you give the price in the chat. - buy_link: a payment, download or booking link starting with
https://. Your assistant sends it when the customer is ready. - original_price: the old price, if the item is on offer.
- currency (required): a three-letter code such as
GHSorUSD, on every row. Salescom never guesses it: a row with an empty currency, or one written ascedisorGH₵, is marked and not added. - condition: New, Used, Open Box or Renewed (Refurbished also works). Anything else, such as "New, scratch & dent", is kept word for word as a Condition detail your assistant can read.
- status:
activeorarchived. Store-style values work too:availableandlow-stockmean active, andunavailableorout-of-stockkeep the item listed with no stock, so your assistant says it is sold out and suggests something else. - image_url, additional_images and store_images: direct links to photos (starting with
https://), separated by commas or|. Up to 6 product photos and 2 in-store photos. If a row has more, the first ones are added and the check list says how many were left out. JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF work (AVIF photos are turned into JPG so every chat app can show them). Salescom downloads them in the background after the upload, usually within a minute; the product card shows a grey loading box until they arrive. A link that doesn't work is skipped, and the product shows a Needs fixing note saying how many photos to add from the product form. Google Drive share links usually don't work, so add those photos in the product form.
Videos can't be uploaded from a CSV. Add them in the product form.
Already have a spreadsheet from another system? Upload it as it is, as long as it has a name, price and currency column. If your export has no currency column, add one (for example GHS on every row) before uploading. Common names work too, such as title, selling price, qty and compare_at_price. Any other column (barcode, colour, warranty...) is saved on each product as an extra detail, which your assistant can read. The check step tells you which columns were saved this way.
Check a few products afterwards, and add photos to the ones customers ask about most.
